Over the course of the last two weeks, we have had the privilege to cast the vision for Eastside Christian Church and launch our weekly Sunday evening gatherings. We are grateful for each of those who joined us to consider the calling to plant a church that plants churches in neighborhoods and communities across Orlando.
While we are just getting started we are both humbled and encouraged by this opportunity God has provided to watch faith become fact! Nothing instills more confidence in his ability to accomplish immeasurably more than watching God establish the small steps of faith we take in the direction of his calling.
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. (Proverbs 16:9 ESV)
Unfortunately, those steps of faith weren’t always taken without reservation. As we contemplated God’s call to step away from the ministry where we had settled in and established relationships we were more often than not flooded with questions. We wondered, who will join us and will God stir the hearts of others the way he has stirred ours for the city of Orlando?
Over the course of just two weeks, God has answered those prayers and more. At our first vision night, we had the opportunity to share our vision with forty-five people and more than twenty people attended our first core team gathering.
Whether you are just beginning to contemplate the calling of God on your life or are faithfully following in the direction of God’s leading, nothing instills more confidence than watching him establish your faith as fact.
King David marveled at God’s power and provision as he delivered on his promises…
“Who am I, O Lord GOD, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far? And yet this was a small thing in your eyes, O Lord GOD. You have spoken also of your servant's house for a great while to come, and this is instruction for mankind, O Lord GOD! (2 Samuel 7:18–19 ESV)
Just as David watched years of faith established as fact we are humbled to witness God begin to bring to fruition a vision more than two years in the making. With incredible confidence, we look forward with great anticipation to all that God will accomplish through his church for his glory!
